Mission Statement: Capturing Light and Making Magic (tm) is more than a catchy tag line for Carl. He passionately believes in the process of creating form and substance in a two dimensional space, using all of the tools and talent gained through a lifetime of observation, study and professional training. Regardless of the chosen medium: Carl enjoys the challenge and control that digital photography affords in illustrating the most beautiful and dramatic spaces and personalities. The magic of photography is what the artist contributes to elevate the ordinary to the extraordinary. Please allow us the privilege of transforming your structure, product or personality into a visual work of art.
A 1983 graduate of RIT in Professional Photography, Carl was selected from a field of 3500 entries for the inaugural Sinar Bron - Swiss Grand Master Award. From 1983-1998 he created thousands of images for Armstrong World Industries, Inc. as a Senior Photographer with Corporate Creative Services. These include three ads recognized by Architectural Record as the 1st, 5th and 14th “Best Read Ads” of 1987 and a 1991 Bronze Award from Eastman Kodak for Excellence in Advertising.
In 1997, 1998 and 2002, Carl exhibited and sold his unique hand made photographic silver prints and colorful giclee prints at the juried art show "Envisioned in a Pastoral Setting" held annually in the Coach Barn at Lila Vanderbilt Webb's Shelburne Farms on Lake Champlain in VT.
Custom Art Prints available: Please contact the artist via email or visit the Banks Gallery in New London, NH. for select images.
In 1999, Carl helped develop and market his IMAGINTERIORS (tm) process, which digitally inserts flooring and ceiling product designs into room set and location photos for national and regional advertising for Armstrong World Industries, Inc., Amtico International Ltd. and Azrock Commercial Tile Flooring.
Since 2000, Carl has photographed for Federated Department Stores and Macy's, Homewood Suites and Hampton Inns, High Industries Inc. and numerous architectural and design firms as principal photographer for CB Vernlund Photo-Imaging LLC.
In October 2007 and 2008, Carl was selected as the only two-time finalist in Architectural Digest's Open Audition competition. Publication of the selected project is expected in Spring 2010
